NPA 4 Season in Review

This year I got the opportunity to play for the Fallarbor Flames in the 4th season of Nugget Bridge's National Pokemon Association (NPA). In case you aren't familiar with the format of NPA, 12 teams draft a roster at the beginning of the season in an auction style draft, where managers take turns nominating players for teams to bid on. The season consists of 11 round robin matches in which each team will play every other team in a head to head match. Matches consist of 8 players from each team being paired up against each other to play a best of three set. The team that wins the most sets wins the match, or a tie can occur if the sets are split 4-4. After the regular season, the top 6 teams make the playoffs. Unfortunately, the Flames fell just short of making a comeback from last place at midseason and finished in 7th place, barely behind the the Fortree Brave Birds.

Note: since the Nugget Bridge No Mega tournament was going on at this time, Luke and I decided to have some fun with our match and agreed to play it without using mega evolutions.

I had a really good time playing in NPA this year. I finished with an 8-3 match record (17-8 game record), which was good enough to tie with a few other players for 10th place in individual records. Obviously making the playoffs would have been cool, but I was proud of how the Flames rebounded after we went into the midseason break in dead last place. Thanks to pookar and feathers for drafting me, can't wait for next season!
